Best Sectors to Live in Gurgaon for Working Professionals

Team Commune · 13 May 2026 · 6 min read

Gurgaon is organised by sector numbers that mean nothing until you live here, and the difference between two of them can be forty minutes of your morning. This guide goes through the sectors that work best for working professionals — what each is near, what it is like in the evening, and who it suits.

The short version: your office decides this more than anything else. If you work in Cyber City or Udyog Vihar, DLF Phase 3 is the obvious answer. If you want metro access and somewhere to go at the weekend, Sector 45 and Sector 56 are the strongest all-round bases. Sectors 46, 57 and 17A are quieter and well connected.

Sector 56 5-min walk to Sector 56 Rapid Metro All-round: commute, food, Golf Course Road

Sector 57 Close to two stations Golf Course Extension corridor
Sector 46 HUDA City Centre nearby Quiet, residential, central
Sector 17A Close to Old Gurgaon and NH-48 Udyog Vihar, IMT Manesar side

DLF Phase 3 — if you work in Cyber City

The shortest commute in the city to the IT and consulting offices in Cyber City, with Udyog Vihar on the other side. Both the Yellow Line and the Rapid Metro are close, which matters on the days you go into Delhi.

It is a working address rather than a scenic one — the appeal is that you get your evenings back instead of spending them on Shankar Chowk. If your office is in DLF Cyber City, Building 8, Infinity Towers or anywhere along that stretch, this is where you should look first.

→ Commune Siris

Sector 56 — the best all-round base

Sector 56 does more things well than any other sector on this list. The Rapid Metro station is a five-minute walk, Golf Course Road is right there, and you have proper restaurants, cafés and gyms within a short ride rather than a planned expedition.

It suits people who don't want their housing decision to be entirely about work — you can get to Cyber City in reasonable time, and you can also have a life on a Saturday without leaving the sector.

→ Commune Prime and Commune Florence, both in Sushant Lok 2

Sector 45 — central, connected, lively

Five minutes from HUDA City Centre, which is the Yellow Line's Gurgaon terminus and the single most useful station in the city if you travel to Delhi. Sector 29's bars and restaurants are close, and so are Huda Market and the hospitals.

This is the densest cluster of options and the one we would point a first-time mover towards: central enough that you can work out where you actually want to be, without committing to a corner of the city you haven't seen yet.

→ Commune Greenwood (which has a functional gym), Commune Collective, Commune Millennium City

Sector 57 — the Golf Course Extension corridor

Sector 57 sits near the Golf Course Extension Road corridor with two metro stations close by. It is newer, greener and noticeably calmer in the evenings than 45 or 29.

Good if your office is along Golf Course Extension or Sohna Road, and good if you want more space and less noise for the same money.

→ Commune Quartex

Sector 46 — quiet and central at once

A residential sector that keeps you close to HUDA City Centre and the Sector 45 and 56 amenities without being in the middle of them. It is an unflashy, practical choice, and it is one of the better-value addresses in central Gurgaon.

→ Commune Anant

Sector 17A — the Old Gurgaon and Udyog Vihar side

Sector 17A faces the older part of the city and NH-48, which makes it the sensible choice if you work in Udyog Vihar, along the highway, or out towards IMT Manesar. It avoids the Golf Course Road traffic entirely, which on a bad day is a significant advantage.

→ Commune Nova

How to actually choose

Four questions, in this order:

  1. Where is your office, precisely? Not "Gurgaon" — the building. Two sectors that look adjacent on a map can differ by half an hour at 9am depending on which roads they feed into.
  2. Do you go into Delhi? If yes, weight metro access heavily. HUDA City Centre and the Rapid Metro interchange are worth more than a slightly bigger room.
  3. Do you want things within walking distance? Sectors 45 and 56 yes; 46 and 57 much less so.
  4. Have you been there on a weekday evening? A sector at 11am on a Sunday tells you nothing about the same sector at 7pm on a Wednesday. Go and look.

That last one is the one people skip and regret. Rent is reversible; a 90-minute daily commute wears you down in a way the spreadsheet doesn't show.
